Inquiry #2: According to Plan Sheet X-1, new structural sections 1,2,5, and 6 are to be constructed with Aggregate Subbase (Class 2); however, Bid Item #87 for Aggregate Subbase states it's class 4. Is the ASB on this project Class 4 or 2?

Inquiry #3: All Traffic Handling plans (reference sheet TH-10, plan sheet 214 of 604) shows temporary pavement to be .5'HMA/1.00' AB CL4; however, according to the summary of quantities, sheet Q-3, plan sheet 357 of 604) all Temporary pavement is to have Aggregate Subbase Class 2 not Aggregate Base Class 4. Please clarify and revise plans.

Response #2:Temporary pavement sections shown on the traffic handling plans should be 0.5' HMA (Type A) and 1.0' CL 2 AS. The pavement structure quantity table shown on Sheet Q-3 is correct with Class 2 Aggregate Subbase required for the temporary pavement sections.

Inquiry #4: According to the Summary of Quantities Sheet Q-1 (plan page 355 of 604), remove base and surfacing is shown at three locations (6535+26 to 6558+81/ 6563+91 to 6642+00/ 6563+91 to 6642+00); however, there are no plans provided that show any work that is to be done in these locations. Please clarify if this is an error and if not please provide plans to show work to be performed in these areas.

Inquiry #5: According to the Summary of Quantities Sheet Q-1 (plan page 355), remove concrete pavement table shows only three location with a 1' existing structural section of Concrete removal; however, if you look at Typical Cross-sections sheets X-1 thru X-7 (plan pages 2-8) you'll notice that the majority of the freeway has existing PCC section, but is not reflected in the areas shown on summary of quantities. Please clarify.

Inquiry #6: According to Traffic Handling sheet TH-1 (plan page 205) there is an area hatched to receive HMA-O Overlay; however, Section A-A on sheet TH-1 shows this same area is to be overlayed with HMA (Type A) not HMA-O. Please clarify what type of HMA is going to be used and if it is going to be permanent or temporary.

Inquiry #8: Our takeoff for RW #95 shows the structural concrete quantity should be at least 150 CY more than the 800 CY shown in the quantity table for this wall. Can Caltrans review their calculations for structural concrete on this wall and revise the table to show the correct quantity?

Inquiry #9: Our take-off for RW# 123 shows the quantity of structural concrete, retaining wall, is significantly more than the 970 CY shown in the table. It seems that not only is the quantity of concrete for the Type 1B portion of the wall understated, but the 4" concrete facing on the soldier pile portion of the wall was not accounted for. Since this is a final pay item, can Caltrans review their calculations for structural concrete and revise the quantity, if necessary?

Inquiry #10: Our take-off for the area of precast concrete lagging at RW# 123 is significantly greater (about 1.5 times) than the quantity shown in the table for the wall. Inquiry #14: Plans sheet 116/604 references standard plan D83A for the new box culvert which is a precast culvert detail sheet. Plan sheet 569/604 refers to standard plan D80 which is a cast-in-place box culvert detail sheet. Also, plan sheet 571/604 refers to standard plan D80 on section B-B and note 2. Please clarify if the box culvert is a CIP or PC box.

Inquiry #27: In Pavement Structure Quantities table on Sheet Q-3, the temporary AC quantity is shown as 9011 Tons, which can be converted to approximately 4500 CY. The quantity for temporary Class 2 ASB is 3665 CY. Your answer to Inquiry #3 says that the temporary pavement section is .5' AC/1' ASB2. If that is the case, then the quantity for Class 2 ASB should be approximately 9000 CY, not 3665 CY. Are there areas where only AC is being placed instead of the full temporary section? Can Caltrans provide more details or cross sections on the traffic handling plans that show where the full section of temporary pavement is being placed and where we are only placing AC?
