Native American Activities

Caltrans has many transportation projects within reservations and tribal ancestral areas. There is one (1) federally recognized tribal government within District 5, the Chumash. The District works with the Tribe on a government-to-government basis. We are currently developing memorandums of understanding with the Chumash to more formally define this relationship and operating procedures.
