District 7 Construction Division Reaps A Bumper Crop of Awards
Caltrans strikes gold at Construction awards.
This awards season, District 7 cleaned up, bringing home numerous prestigious awards.
We won the State Excellence in Partnering Award Gold Medal for a pavement reconstruction project on the Long Beach Freeway (I-710) from the Century Freeway (I-105) to Firestone Boulevard. Congratulations to RE Hussein Saad, contractor Sully Miller and the entire construction team. Nice work! The award will be presented in Sacramento on May 9.
The district also won FIVE gold medals in the Partnering Success in Motion Awards. Those projects were: the Harbor Freeway (SR-110) auxiliary lanes in downtown Los Angeles (Flatiron Construction); HOV lanes on the San Bernardino Freeway (I-10) from I-605 to Puente Avenue (Flatiron Construction); HOV lanes on I-5 from the Hollywood Freeway (SR-170) to the Ronald Reagan Freeway (SR-118) (Flatiron Construction); the I-10 Pavement Reconstruction Project from I-5 to I-605 (Atkinson Contractors; and the Pomona Freeway (SR-60) Pavement Replacement Project in Diamond Bar and Pomona (Chumo Construction Inc.). There also were several silver award winners.
Individual awards went to Reza Jahromi, who was named RE of the Year, and Andrew Ponzi, Structures Rep of the Year.
