Northbound Interstate 15 Closed
at Rancho Bernardo Road
Sunday Evening to Erect Falsework
SAN DIEGO – All lanes of northbound Interstate 15 (I-15) will be closed at Rancho Bernardo Road on Sunday (8/13) from 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Monday (8/14). Partial lanes closure will actually begin at 9:00 p.m. with all lanes being closed by 11:30 p.m. This closure is called to continue work at the future Highland Valley Road (Pomerado Road) Overcrossing just south of Lake Hodges.
Motorists will be taken off the freeway at Rancho Bernardo Road. From there, they can go eastbound on Rancho Bernardo Road to Pomerado Road, continue north on Pomerado Road and back onto I-15. Detour signs will be posted throughout the closure to aid motorists.
“This closure is part of ongoing work to erect falsework over the northbound lanes for the new Highland Valley/Pomerado Road Overcrossing of I-15,” said Gustaf Silva, Caltrans assistant Resident Engineer for this project. The new overcrossing is scheduled to be completed by January 2007.
This work is part of a $427 million effort to build the “Middle Segment” of the I-15 Managed Lanes freeway improvement project. When completed and opened to traffic by late 2007 or early 2008, the freeway will feature state-of-the-art lanes in the roadway median, which will service carpools, multi-occupant vehicles and transit. Single-occupant vehicles will also have access to the managed lanes for a fee.
Caltrans will make every effort to minimize any disruption to the public during this closure. Call (866) 890-1397 for information on the I-15 Managed Lanes Hotline.
