Southbound SR-163 Closed Tonight at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard

SAN DIEGO – Construction crews will close all southbound lanes of State Route 163 (SR-163) at the Clairemont Mesa Boulevard Bridge tonight from 10 to 5 in the morning on Wednesday, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

Workers will be restriping SR-163 and detouring the freeway traffic just north of the bridge onto the collector ramp that runs parallel and will merge back onto the freeway just south of the bridge.

The work is part of an $11 million freeway and surface street project which the city of San Diego and Caltrans are working jointly on. The project includes widening the Clairemont Mesa Boulevard Bridge, reconstructing the on- and off-ramps and surface street improvements.

“This project will improve access to businesses in the area as well as pedestrian and bike access over the bridge and on city streets,” said Resident Engineer Dan Juarez
