A New Lane Will Open On I-15 In the Rancho Bernardo Area

SAN DIEGO –Commuters will be traveling on a newly-opened lane on northbound Interstate 15 (I-15) between the Duenda Road Overcrossing and Centre City Parkway on Tuesday, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

This new lane comes on the heels of a recent southbound lane addition, which has saved commuters 13 minutes on average on the morning commute. The new northbound lane will provide relief during the afternoon commute.

Up to three northbound lanes on Interstate 15 (I-15) between the Duenda Road Overcrossing and Centre City Parkway will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, and will re-open at 5 a.m. on Tuesday. The closure is necessary to complete striping work. When this work is completed, an additional lane will be in place to expand capacity on the northbound side of I-15 to six lanes.

The additional northbound lane is temporary and will remain in place until the opening of the Managed Lanes in 2008.
