New Ramp Meter Activated Wednesday
at
Carmel Mountain Road to Northbound Interstate 5
SAN DIEGO – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will activate a new ramp meter this Wednesday afternoon from Carmel Mountain Road to the northbound bypass lane accessing Interstate 5 and State Route 56. The meter will operate weekdays from 3-5 during the afternoon commute.
Ramp metering is a proven traffic management tool to control the numbers of vehicles on the main lanes that improve safety and traffic flow downstream. This meter’s timing has been adjusted to allow for the maximum amount of vehicles. Caltrans will continue to monitor traffic in the area and make adjustments to the meter’s timing as appropriate.
