Westbound Lanes of SR-52 to Close Saturday Night

SAN DIEGO –All westbound lanes of State Route 52 (SR-52) between State Route 163 (SR-163) and Convoy Street will close Saturday night to repair the dips in the pavement.

Crews from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the road at 9 p.m. and reopen Sunday at 8 a.m. In addition the following ramps the westbound on-ramps to SR-52 from northbound and southbound SR-163 and Kearny Villa Road will be closed. Changeable message sighs will be in place to assists motorist around the closure.

Workers will grind and repave the roadway to level the depressions. Pavement settling has become a periodic issue along this stretch of freeway and engineers are researching a more long-tem solution.

Slow and delays can be expected. Motorists traveling near the Kearny Mesa area are advised to allow extra time to their commute.
