MEDIA ADVISORY - SR-905
WHO: Caltrans Director Will Kempton, Senator Denise Ducheny, Lemon Grove Mayor and San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Chair Mary Teresa Sessom, San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders and South Bay Expressway CEO Greg Hulsizer.
WHAT: A ceremony to mark the start of construction of State Route 905 (SR-905) from the Otay Mesa border crossing to Interstate 805. The $619 million project is partially funded by Proposition 1B, the $19 billion transportation bond approved by voters in November 2006.
Officials also will recognize the recent opening of the South Bay Expressway (State Route 125 South) and the proposed Otay Mesa East border crossing, which will help reduce traffic congestion during peak periods and improve the flow of cross-border trade.
WHEN: Friday, April 25 at 1:30 p.m.
WHERE: The event will take place in the median of the southernmost end of SR-125 overlooking SR-905. (Thomas Guide Page 1351, J-1).
Directions: Take southbound SR-125 to SR-905. At the signal turn left, then proceed to the SR-125 northbound on-ramp. Stay in your left hand lane and flaggers will assist motorists into the event site. Please note that guests using SR-125 will be assessed a toll.
Alternate directions: Take southbound I-5 or I-805 to eastbound SR-905. Proceed to the SR-125 northbound on-ramp. Stay in your left hand lane and flaggers will assist motorists into the event site.
Guide signs will be posted to direct media to the event site.
