Fanita Bridge Construction Begins Along SR-52
SAN DIEGO –TWork begins Monday on the new Fanita Drive Bridge for the State Route 52 (SR-52) Sunny Side Gateway Project.
Construction crews from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will start the process of driving 50-foot piles into the ground for the bridge foundation and columns. Crews will work weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the end of June.
“This type of work can be noisy,” said Resident Engineer Ed Fitzgibbon. “Residents in the area may experience some inconveniences as a result of this work. Your patience in this matter will be greatly appreciated.”
The $255 million SR-52 Sunny Side Gateway Project will add four new lanes from State Route 125 to State Route 67. The project is funded by a variety of state, federal, and local sources.
