Work Continues on State Route 78

SAN DIEGO –The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will continue work to make permanent repairs to State Route 78 (SR-78) between Bandy Canyon Road and Weekend Villa Road.  Using one-way traffic control, construction crews will work Monday, May 12 through Friday, May 16 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be no work the weekend of May 17.

“There is still some drainage work that needs to be done,” said Resident Engineer Mohammad Khan. “By next Friday we should have a better idea if we need additional closures.”

While the road is open, Caltrans advises motorists to add extra time to their commute and to drive with caution through the work zone.  During heavy commute times the delay trough the work zone could take up to 10 minutes

Caltrans will place temporary Changeable Message Signs (CMS) SR-78 to alert motorists of the work.

Construction crews are making drainage improvements, constructing a new retaining wall, as well as making repairs to the roadway damaged by last winter’s storms.
