Work Continues on State Route 78

SAN DIEGO –The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will continue work to make permanent repairs to State Route 78 (SR-78) between Bandy Canyon Road and Weekend Villa Road.  Using one-way traffic control, construction crews will work Monday, May 19 through Friday, May 23 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be no work during the Memorial Day Weekend.

“We hope to have the work complete soon,” said Public Information Officer Hayden Manning. “But it may stretch into early June.”

While the road is open, Caltrans advises motorists to add extra time to their commute and to drive with caution through the work zone.  During heavy commute times the delay trough the work zone could take up to 10 minutes

Caltrans will place temporary Changeable Message Signs (CMS) SR-78 to alert motorists of the work.

Construction crews are making drainage improvements, constructing a new retaining wall, as well as making repairs to the roadway damaged by last winter’s storms.
