Long-Term Closure on Airway Road Begins Tonight

SAN DIEGO –Caltrans construction crews will close Airway Road between State Route 905 and Sanyo Avenue beginning Wednesday June 18 at 9 p.m. The closure will remain in effect during construction of the new SR-905 freeway.

Eastbound motorists will be detoured westbound on Airway Road to northbound La Media Road and then eastbound on Otay Mesa Road to southbound Sanyo Road and back eastbound on Airway Road.

Motorists westbound on Airway Road will be detoured northbound on Sanyo Road to westbound Otay Mesa Road and then take La Media Road southbound to westbound Airway Road.

Crews have completed the widening of Sanyo Road as part of the project and will begin building bridges for the new Airway Road crossing.

The work is part of the $620 million project to build a new six-lane freeway between Interstate 805 and the Otay Mesa Port of Entry.
