I-15 Express Lanes Open Northbound This Weekend

SAN DIEGO –The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced that the Interstate 15 Express Lanes will remain open in the northbound direction during the Fourth of July holiday weekend beginning with today’s afternoon commute. The direction will be reversed Monday morning for the peak commute in the southbound direction.

“We generally use the weekend configuration in the northbound direction during holidays,” said Caltrans spokesperson Edward Cartagena. “We don’t move the reversible barrier during weekends and holidays because there just isn’t the distinct peak commute patterns (southbound in the morning and northbound in the afternoon) that we see weekdays.”

Caltrans would like to remind motorists to use hands-free cell phone devices, buckle seat belts and to drive safely as they make their way to and from holiday destinations.
