Interstate 5/Lomas Santa Fe Interchange Work Postponed
SAN DIEGO –The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced today that Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base will be closing the Old Highway 101 bike path through the base, starting at 12 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23.
The bike path will be closed from Las Pulgas Road to Basilone Road, an area maintained by Caltrans. It will re-open at 12 a.m. the following Wednesday, July 30.
Marines will be conducting training exercises and must close the path for safety reasons. Signs will be in place to mark the closure. Caltrans will allow cyclists to use the shoulders of Interstate 5 in both directions between Basilone and Las Pulgas. There will be no barrier separating vehicle traffic from the shoulder.
