Craig is a native of Hays, Kansas. He graduated from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He has a Masters Degree in Business Organizational Management from the University of Laverne.
Craig began his career with Caltrans in Bishop in 1980 as a Junior Civil Engineer. His first assignment was in construction which included the "40 Mile Curve" 4-lane project near the south June Lake junction. After various rotational assignments he worked in Design, including 11 years as a Senior Design Engineer. He was appointed to Deputy District Director for Program/Project Management and Local Assistance in November of 2000.
Craig and his wife Laurie were married in 1980 and have three children; Nathan (1985), Brian (1987) and Melissa (1992). He enjoys basketball, golf, fishing, backpacking, church activities, and coaching youth soccer.
