Storm Water and Water Pollution Control
Caltrans has a comprehensive program for preventing water pollution during construction activities on the state highway system. Caltrans has developed a number of resources to assist Caltrans staff and construction contractors achieve this goal.
Caltrans water pollution control manuals provide direction on how to prepare a Storm water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Water Pollution Control Program (WPCP). Electronic templates of these documents have been prepared to assist construction contractors in their preparation of these documents. Caltrans has also developed and obtained the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) approval of numerous Best Management Practices (BMP) for preventing water pollution.
Copies of Caltrans training documents, other training resources, and a listing of training facilities are available to assist Caltrans staff and construction contractor's implementation of Caltrans water pollution prevention program.
Lake Tahoe SWPPP Template March 2021 (ZIP)
Description: This template prepares a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) in compliance with the Lake Tahoe Hydrologic Unit NPDES Permit (CAG616002, Order No. R6T-2011-0019) from data Contractors and Caltrans staff enter into the template. The user must have Microsoft Access 2007 (or later version) installed on their computer to use this template.
SWPPP Template February 2024 (ACCDB)
Description: This template prepares a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for statewide use under the 2022 Construction General Permit, except for the Lake Tahoe Hydrologic Unit, from user data entered into the template. It is for use on Caltrans projects with transitional and 2023 Standard Specifications. The user must have Microsoft Access 2007 (or later version) to use this template.
SWPPP Template June 2021 (ACCDB)
